Hi friends I am Munna Gupta...I cracked TCS on 4th January 2010....out of 398 students who appeared for apti only 188 could clear apti and among 188 only 108 got thru with the job...
the selection procedure involved two steps
1.online aptitude test.
2.personal technical and hr (mixed) interview.
online test was based on same tcs trends--
three sections,
Sec-1 ->Time-20 Mins Marks-32
10 synonyms & 10 antonyms (all from exercises (tests) after word list in gre barrons),
big comprehension 6 questions (from barrons),
sentence completion 6 questions (from barrons).
Just some how mug up the synonyms and antonyms...
Don't waste much time on any question if u know it just do it, If not then also do it move to next. Remember Time is very crucial and no negative marking
Sec-2->Time 40 Mins Marks-38
This is the most scoring section. I got almost all questions correct in this section..
tip for this section is to make a word document by copying questions provided in freshersworld.com in this way u will have all the common question in one place which will make your task very easy....Most of the Questions are repeated from Previous Papers. So read, understand and memorize the answers. But be careful. Sometimes they change the data of the problem.
Sec-3->Time 30 Mins Marks 30
This the most toughest section...three reasoning questions each containing 4 parts(4*3=12 ques altogether)
my tip for this section (if u have time) solve barrons(12th edition) model test paper's analytical section
at the back.
If do not have enough time for preparation then solve only those questions that are given in freshersworld.com.
If u have very little time then Just mug up the answers of those Questions which are provided in Freshersworld.
Over all tip for cracking APTI
Sec1-do the synonyms and antonyms in one go...don't read the passage goto the questions directly. find keyword in the passage answer the ques accordingly. remember 1st ques of the passage will be from the starting para and so on.
Sec2-just answer the common questions which u have memorized first ,skip those questions which u have to solve there, after doing the common memorized ques return to skipped ques.
Sec3-answer the common memorized ques, then take your time to solve at least any one reasoning passage correctly(4 ques).
Do not leave any Questions unanswered.
My apti exam was over at 00:15 am at mid night....i was called for interview at 2:00 am...i was very nervous...
the interview was as follows--
I: may i come in sir.
SIR:yes.
I:good morning sir.
SIR: please have a seat.
I:thank u sir
SIR:introduce urself.
I:(did).
SIR:what was ur rank in wbjee.
I:3030 sir.
SIR:what was ur favourite subject in class 10 and 12.
I:mathematics sir.
SIR:how much did u get in mathematics.
I:(told).
SIR:what were ur subjects in last semester?
I:(due to nervousness only could any three out of 5 subjects)
SIR:what is ODBC.how u can use it.how can u create DSN.what is diff between SYSTEM DSN and USER DSN.
I:(did.answered confidently)
SIR:what is RACE CONDITION?what is SHARED MEMORY?what is SEMAPHORE,MUTEX,MONITOR?
I:(did.answered confidently).
SIR:why TCS.
I:(i noted down all the points which was told in ppt)
SIR:what are ur hobbies?
I:told
SIR:which movies did u watched recently?
I:3 idiots.
SIR:from which book it is being adopted.
I:chetan bhagat's "five point someone".
SIR:any question do u want to ask?
I:what will be our next step after this selection process.
SIR:answered.
I:thank u sir.
Finally result was declared at 4.30am in the morning....thankfully i got selected....that was the most thrilling morning of my life...
